Music Therapy lessons

Janel Metzger, MT-BC, is a Board-Certified Music Therapist. She started playing piano at age 5, took flute lessons from age 11 through college, and started guitar and ukulele in college. She graduated from Western Illinois University magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy. Janel began her Music Therapy career working at West Music in their Music Therapy department in April 2014. She has worked with a variety of clientele including students with disabilities in schools, nursing home groups, hospice patients, groups of adults with disabilities, recreational music groups for young adults with disabilities and adaptive lessons. Janel joined the Developing Melodies team in September 2015.

Callie Finzel, MT-BC, is a board-certified music therapist and member of the American Music Therapy Association. She holds a bachelor's degree in Music Therapy from Eastern Michigan University and a dual bachelor's degree in Music and History from the University of Michigan. She completed her clinical internship at the Institute for Therapy through the Arts in Evanston, Illinois, where she collaborated with speech and occupational therapists at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, co-treated with art and drama therapists, and provided services to clients with disabilities in a variety of educational settings. Callie has experience working with clients in a range of settings including neonatal/pediatric hospitalization, schools, adult day programs, care facilities for older adults, and hospice and palliative care. Prior to beginning her career in music therapy, she spent 8 years working in early childhood education. Callie joined the Developing Melodies team in September of 2014.

Brian Rohr, BME, graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor's degree in music education, instrumental band. He has taught elementary music in Bloomington's District 87, and currently runs his own private lesson studio in addition to working with Developing Melodies. As a music instructor for Developing Melodies, he teaches guitar, piano, and Ukelele. Brian founded the Bloomington Area Home School Band in 2011 which gives home schooled students the opportunity to participate in a concert band, typically only available at public schools. He actively performs in various bands and plays regularly for multiple churches. Brian joined the Developing Melodies team in October 2015.
