If you're a beginner or professional, our experienced staff has the knowledge to answer any questions. We do student band instrument rentals, lessons, and have an onsite repair shop. Our store has a large selection of sheet music and music books as well as accessories and the top brands in musical instruments. We are conveniently located south of downtown Jacksonville on San Jose Blvd. in the Mandarin neighborhood near I-95 and I-295.

Instruments:

We have the top brands suitable for all levels of player. From keyboards and guitars, percussion and all band and orchestra instruments we have reasonably priced, high quality gear to get you started. And we have the top quality instruments suitable for advanced players. These include brass and woodwind instruments from Selmer, Bach, Yamaha, Gemeinhardt, Ventus, Buffet, Jupiter and Keilwerth. We have guitars and amps from Fender, Eastman, Breedlove, Epiphone, Mitchell, Taylor, Takamine, Ampeg, Vox, Acoustic and Kustom. Drums and percussion from Pearl, Tama, Mapex, Sabian and Zildjian. We’ve got great keyboards and orchestral strings as well as ukuleles, banjos, mandolins and harmonicas. From picks and strings to drumsticks and bow rosin we have tons of accessories. And if it’s not in the store we can usually get any item in a matter of days.

Lessons:

Music & Arts is the nation’s largest lesson provider. In fact we do over 200 lessons here at our Jacksonville location every week. We have lessons for every skill level and aspiration. Our awesome teachers cover all the brass and woodwind instruments, percussion, keyboards, guitars, orchestral strings and voice. We have 5 clean, comfortable teaching studios. And we like to showcase our super talented students by having quarterly recitals. Scheduling is flexible and pricing is very reasonable so get a leg up on the competition or just have fun with private lessons.

Rentals:

Our store services the rental needs of students in 5 surrounding counties. We rent band and orchestra instruments, band percussion and orchestral strings. We work closely with area music directors to provide brands best suited for their students. Our rental program is affordable and flexible with options to see you from grade school all the way to college and beyond. And you don’t have to be a student to rent. Many of our rental customers are adults enjoying the personal growth and fun of learning to play an instrument.

Repairs:

We have an on-site repair shop and a certified technician with over 30 years experience. We repair band and orchestra instruments from basic maintenance and alignments to metal work and major overhauls. We do chemical cleans and silver dips to make your instruments play great and sparkle. We also do free estimates.

Our Story:

The first Music & Arts was located in a small house in Bethesda, MD and run by founder Benjamin O’Brien. When Music & Arts opened its doors in 1952, we offered printed music, music lessons, dance lessons, and art supplies. Ben decided shortly after opening his business that he wanted to focus on music to better serve his customers – a decision that remains intact to this day.

Since the 1990s, Music & Arts has expanded nationwide through organic growth and a series of acquisitions and mergers with other music dealers. In 2005, Music & Arts joined forces with American Music, a division of Guitar Center, to become the largest band and orchestra instrument retailer in the United States.

Still run by the O’Brien family, Music & Arts now comprises close to 500 retail and affiliate locations and over 100 educational representatives nationwide. Now based in Frederick, MD, the company of trained musicians offers friendly service and everything musical for students, parents, and educators, including instruments, lessons, music books and accessories, rentals and repairs.
