#3 – Next Level Guitar
Awesome course taught by the ultimate teacher and cool cat, David Taub. I’ve had more training from David than anyone else and highly recommend his Next Level Guitar membership site as well as his DVD training videos. It’s like learning from a good friend who really cares about your progress and truly wants to see you get to the next level. In addition to beginner videos, the membership covers lots of genre specific lessons including Rock, Blues, and much more. David also offers song tutorials on DVD that teach you how to play popular song favorites accurately, step-by-step. I’ve personally bought several of his song lesson DVDs including the following:
- Taught by David Taub!
- He’s not only a great teacher, but entertaining too.
- David is very helpful and has personally answered my emails.
- Get the entire NLG course at once via the membership or in segments as you go on DVD.
- Style-specific training available (e.g., Surf, Blues, Hard Rock, Jazz, etc).
- No Internet connection required for the DVDs (makes lessons accessible even when “off the grid”)!
- 36 song lesson DVDs available – each has 2 hours of instruction to nail that song.
- Learn *all* the song parts step-by-step: intro, verses, rhythms, chorus, timing, strumming, outro, embellishments, licks, full guitar solo, and more.
- You not only get the entire song, but plenty of technique lessons along the way.
“Soloing Essentials” by Super Guitar Licks
One of the things most guitarists aspire to is playing exciting, soul-stirring solos and lead. The problem is a lot of people find it difficult to get started or feel that it’s just something that they won’t be able to excel at. If that’s you, you’re in luck because there is now a FREE guitar soloing course that the guys over at Super Guitar Licks have created which makes learning how to play guitar solos and lead both fun and easier than you imagined.
It’s called “Soloing Essentials – 5 Licks Guaranteed To WOW Anyone“! And let me just say, it wowed me the first time I saw this series of solo lessons. I’m still amazed they are giving away this away free. My favorite aspect of this course is that it breaks down and teaches you 5 new and unique licks that not only sound super cool, but are also fun to play! With names like “The Snake” and “Wham-O-Rama“, you know you’re in for something special that will get attention when played! The best part is that the instructor breaks down every movement in each lick and illustrates how to play them as if you wrote them yourself.
There’s also Tabs and a backing track to practice right along with the video lesson. This is definitely one of the best “how to play a guitar solo” courses I’ve seen from all the ones I’ve checked out. I rate it high for quality and ease-of-use. If you’re looking for soloing tutorials that gently introduce you to playing lead, this is what you’re looking for. Get started right now on developing your Soloing, Improvisation and Lead Playing skills with this free course. I’m not sure how much longer they’ll keep this course free (yes, it’s that good), but as of the time of this writing you can still get it at this link: Free “Soloing Essentials” Course
If you have a bit more time and would like to read about my own guitar journey… A few years ago, I finally decided I wanted to take up the guitar and my dad, a life-long guitarist himself, became my guitar teacher. A few times a week, Dad and I would meet in the evenings and he would give me personal guitar instruction.
